Cerisean Timetables Book a demo

The school timetable, made and kept.

Cerisean Timetables makes your school's timetable and keeps every rule you set. Then it helps the office through every school day.

The Timetable screen on a computer: section XI-Science-A's week, Monday to Saturday, eight periods a day. Biology, Chemistry and Physics practicals are double periods in their labs.
Today on a phone: the six teachers away on Monday, each with the reason, and two lessons that still need a substitute.

Screens from the app, with a made-up school of 75 sections and 150 teachers.

What it does

One app for the timetable and for every day after it.

It works in the browser, on a computer or a phone. The office, the coordinator and every teacher use the same app, each with their own screens.

A timetable that keeps your rules

Enter your school once: the week, the teachers, the subjects, and what each standard studies. Press Generate. The app makes the timetable for every section and every teacher.

  • No teacher, section or shared room is in two places at once.
  • Each teacher has a limit on periods in a row and periods in a day.
  • Each subject is spread through the week.
  • A teacher is never given a period they are not available.
  • Subjects can have a fixed time, or the same time every day.

Move any lesson by hand. Drag it, or click it and then click where it goes. Each period shows at once whether the lesson can go there. Pin a lesson, and the next Generate keeps it in place.

Each Generate makes a new version. Teachers see only the version you publish, and you can publish an earlier one again. Print any class, any teacher or the whole school. The published timetable also downloads as a spreadsheet.

In our test, a made-up school of 75 sections and 150 teachers got its timetable in about a minute and a half.

A Physics lesson picked up in the timetable editor. A line above the week explains the marks: no rule broken here, a swap breaks no rule here, breaks a rule here.
A lesson picked up. Every period says whether it can go there.

Every morning's substitutions

Mark the teachers who are away: absent, on external duty or on leave, for the whole day or some periods. For each of their lessons, the app lists the teachers who are free then.

Teachers of that class come first, then teachers of that subject, then everyone else. In each group, the teacher with the fewest substitutions this week comes first. The office decides. The app never gives a lesson on its own.

Give a lesson with one tap. The WhatsApp button opens a message to the substitute with all their lessons that day, ready to send. Copy the day's list for the staff group, or print the register.

Before you mark one more teacher away, the app says whether every lesson can still get a substitute. The next two weeks show which days have room for one more absence.

Leave and substitution on a computer: English for V-A in period 1 needs a substitute. The free teachers are listed in order, those who teach the class first, each with a Give button.
On a phone: the substitutions given, one card for each substitute with a WhatsApp button.

Leave and records

A teacher applies for leave on their phone: the kind of leave, the dates, and the whole day or some periods. The office sees whether every lesson that day can get a substitute, then approves or rejects it.

Substitutes for a whole leave are given in one step, day by day, or to one teacher for the whole leave.

Each teacher has a record for the school year: days away, leave of each kind, external duty and substitutions taken. Each number opens to show its dates. External duty is never counted as leave.

Two leave applications waiting for the office. Each says whether every lesson of the teacher can get a substitute that day, with Approve and Reject.
A teacher's leave form on a phone: the kind of leave, the first and last day, the periods and a reason.

Every teacher's day on their phone

Each teacher sees today's lessons in order, with free periods and breaks in their places. Below are any substitutions they take today and in the next six days, and their whole week.

Any section's or teacher's week is a tap away, as on the staff room wall. A notice shows when something concerns them, such as a substitution or a leave decision.

Teachers sign in with a link sent to their email, or with Google or Microsoft. The app opens in the phone's browser and can be added to the home screen.

Made for Indian schools

  • Standards and sections. A standard's subjects and teachers are one table, with a column for each section.
  • Saturdays and short days. Each day can have its own number of periods.
  • Breaks where your school has them, such as a short break and lunch.
  • Class teachers in the first period, for the standards you choose.
  • Double periods for practicals, never split by a break.
  • Labs and halls shared between sections, with how many sections fit at once.
Standard XI-Science as one table: a row for each subject, a column for each of its four sections, with periods a week, double periods and the lab for each practical.

How it works

Three steps, then every school day.

  1. Enter your school

The week and its breaks, the teachers, the subjects, and each standard's table of subjects and teachers. Paste lists of names straight from a spreadsheet.

  2. Generate and publish

The app makes the timetable. Look through it, move any lesson you want, and publish it. Teachers see it on their phones at once.

  3. Run each school day

Mark who is away, give their lessons to substitutes, and send the messages on WhatsApp. Decide leave as it comes in.

FAQ

Questions schools ask.

Do we need to install anything?

No. Cerisean Timetables works in the browser, on a computer or a phone. Open app.cerisean.com and sign in. On a phone, it can be added to the home screen.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Teachers see their day, apply for leave and look up any timetable on their phones. The office can mark absences and give substitutes from a phone too.

Where is our data kept?

Each school's data is kept apart from every other school's. No one at another school can see it. [The hosting company, and the country the data is kept in]

Our privacy page lists everything the app keeps.

Do you keep students' data?

No. The app keeps no student names and no details about any student. A section is only a name, such as VII-B.

Can we change the timetable by hand?

Yes. Move any lesson, or swap two lessons. The app checks every move against your rules at once and lists anything a move breaks.

Pin the lessons you want to keep, and the next Generate keeps them. Teachers see your changes when you publish.

Can we print it, or get it as a spreadsheet?

Yes. Print the whole school, one class, one teacher or one shared room. A version that is not published prints marked as a draft.

The published timetable downloads as a spreadsheet file (CSV), which Excel opens. The day's substitutions print as a register.

What happens when our plan ends?

The app stops making and publishing new timetables. The published timetable, substitutions, leave and records keep working.
